Vera Tugolukova (born 16 September 2008) is a Russian-Cypriot rhythmic gymnast,[1] who has competed for Cyprus in international competitions since 2023.
Career[edit]
Russia[edit]
Tugolukova entered the Russian junior national team in 2021. She was selected to compete in the Moscow Junior IT for Russia (parallel to the Senior Grand Prix) in February 2022, where she won gold in the hoop final and team gold (together Anna Popova Angelina Ipatova and Diana Chugunikhina). At the end of July she was selected to compete at the Children of Asia International Sport Games in Vladivostok, Russia, where she won silver all-around behind of Anna Popova and ahead of Maya Kolobovnikova, gold and bronze respectively and both from Russia. She also won gold in the ribbon final, bronze in the ball final, and silver in the club final.[2]
In November of the same year, the International Gymnastics Federation announced that Vera Tugolukova had changed her nationality to Cyprus.[2]
Cyprus[edit]
Junior[edit]
Tugolukova joined the Cypriot national team as a junior in 2023 and her first international competition representing Cyprus was in March at the Aphrodite Cup in Athens, Greece finishing fifth in the all-around in the junior gymnast category 2008 and silver in the hoop final.[3] At the Sofia Cup, in Sofia, Bulgaria, she won two golds in the ball and club finals, and silver in the ribbon final, while in hoop she was fifth.[4] In it AGF Trophy in Baku, Azerbaiyan won gold in hoop, silver in ball and clubs
Tugolukova was selected to represent Cyprus at the 2023 2nd 2023 Junior World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Cluj-Napoca, Romania on July 7–9. She competed with hoop, ball and clubs, while her teammate, Nika Khodareva, did so with the ribbon. Tugolukova entered the all three apparatus finals and finished 7th in hoop, 5th in ball and 6th in clubs.
Senior[edit]
In 2024, she made her international senior debut. She competed at World Cup Palaio Faliro and took 6th place in All-around. She qualified to Ribbon final and won bronze medal, 0.1 point ahead of Bulgarian Eva Berezalieva.
Achievements[edit]
- First Cypriot rhythmic gymnast to win a medal in an individual apparatus final at the FIG World Cup series.
